Welcome to IBCP

What is IBCP?

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a world-class, international and highly regarded qualification taken by many successful students in schools across the globe, and here in England, every year for the last 50 years. This year, over 20 schools in Kent are taking part in a project to launch the IBCP (International Baccalaureate Careers Related Programme) for students lucky enough to attend one of the Sixth Forms involved.

Here at Folkestone Academy's Glassworks Sixth Form Centre, we are halfway through the process of applying to be recognised as an IB World School and are planning to launch the IBCP in September 2017 with the current Year 11 students as our first cohort. A number of students have already signed up and are excited about the opportunity to study new subjects such as Social and Cultural Anthropology or Environmental Systems and Societies. This course also offer students the opportunity to learn conversational Japanese, to take part in a photography project with Canterbury Christchurch, to undertake focussed work experience connected to their career pathway and to undertake a  research project that will prepare them for further study and learning.
