Students Take Part in ‘Guess the Job’ Workshop

A group of Year 7 students were given the opportunity to take part in a ‘Guess the Job’ workshop with representatives from a range of businesses. Students spent 5 minutes with each employer asking them questions about the work they undertook. At the end of the session they guessed the job roles of each employer before discovering their true identity!

As well as finding out about different career paths, students also developed their communication and presentation skills and gained confidence through the activity. Feedback from both students and employers was very positive; one student commented that “it was exciting to learn about different jobs, there are lots that I didn’t even know existed”.

The group of students are part of the Academy’s Reach Your Peak initiative which aims to provide opportunities and support for students who demonstrate the potential to access some of the country’s best universities.

Katy Tibbles, Careers Coordinator for the Academy comments: ‘I’d like to say a huge thank you to the ten employer representatives from KM Group, Smiths Medical, EDF Energy, The Grand, Kreston Reeves, Godden Allen Lawn surveyors and Arthur J. Gallagher insurance brokers who dedicated their time to the event and supported our students on their journey through education and into employment.”
