Students to Perform at The Marlowe Theatre

The Marlowe Theatre and Matthew Bourne have given students from Kent an incredible chance to work with professional dancers from the New Adventures Company to create an original piece of choreography in response to Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella and perform it to an audience at The Marlowe Theatre on Friday 25th May at 7.30pm.

Chloe Huggins and Phoebe Cutter auditioned on Saturday 31st March in the Marlowe Studio alongside 60 other dance students from all over Kent. The girls were put through their paces and were lucky enough to be selected to work with the professional dancers. They have been attending intensive Saturday rehearsals to create the curtain raiser piece. They can then be seen performing at The Marlowe in Canterbury alongside the professional dancers on Friday 25th May 2018 at 7.30pm.

This New Adventure curtain raiser is giving Chloe and Phoebe the opportunity to work with this world-renowned company through the exploration and development of their technical and creative skills. Their work will result in the creation of a short piece, as a response to the themes and movement discovered in Cinderella. Folkestone Academy took to twitter about the fantastic news to which Sir Matthew Bourne himself liked the tweet!

Cinderella – Matthew Bourne’s interpretation of the classic fairy tale has, at its heart, a true war-time romance. A chance meeting results in a magical night for Cinderella and her dashing young RAF pilot, together just long enough to fall in love before being parted by the horrors of the Blitz.
