Schools are no longer judged on the percentage of students achieving five GCSEs, including English and Mathematics, at grades A*- C. A new measure called Progress 8 is used. Progress 8 compares the progress of a student, from the end of Key Stage 2 to the end of Key Stage 4, to the progress of all students of a similar age nationally with the same KS2 point score. 
The differences in the progress of the students will be used to produce a measure for judging the performance of the Academy. Subjects that contribute towards this measure can be helpfully classified into three qualification ‘baskets’.
